Aug 13, Lisa rated it it was amazing Shelves: historical-romance , ebook , netgalley , sarah-maclean , favorites. Juliana and Simons story, and what a story it was! We first meet the lovely, feisty, bold, impulsive Juliana Fiori as she is thrust in London society into the care of her twin half brothers, whom she had no clue existed and vice versa, in Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake and we get a couple glimpses of Simon, Duke of Leighton. Simon is known as the Duke of Disdain as he has no tolerance for anything but a pristine reputation.

So when he learns that Juliana is barely a respect Finally So when he learns that Juliana is barely a respectable lady in Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord due to her mother, he knows they can never be as he needs his perfectly polished reputation now more than ever. As a result, he knows he must propose marriage to the perfectly proper Lady Penelope Marbury.

Oh, but it can not just be as simple as that. Juliana proposes a dare to Simon that she can bring him to his knees in just two weeks. He agrees and puts of his proposal until that time. And let the fun begin! There is just so much to love about this story! Juliana is always muttering in her native Italian and when she realizes that Simon is fluent in Italian, whoops! I enjoyed her confusion with the English language, even though it happened quite often, it's just part of her.

We get to see more of her yummy brother Gabriel and Nick and their reaction to certain situations involving their sister and this stuck up duke, priceless.

Sigh, watching these two fall in love was such fun. Simon is determined to resist her and help his family overcome a shattering secret, even if it breaks his own heart in the process. There is a scene where he sees Juliana in the gorgeous black dress pictured on the front and you just know he is done for, because, really, who would be so bold to wear black to a ball when not in morning?

Ah, on one but the feisty Juliana who is determined to prove that Simon needs passion in his life. I could prattle on and on about this wonderful book but really, all you need to do is read it and savor it. Sit outside one afternoon with some wine and just enjoy it. Oh boy though, Eleven Scandals may be my new favorite now I just can not quite decide. All three are on my keeper shelf though and I am sad to see an end to this series and these characters.

I have no complaints for this book except I wanted more, not a bad thing to want : I first read this book when I got the ebook two months ago and I had to skim it a bit to refresh the details and it was still just as good. I can not wait to purchase my own copy and read it again and again. It is that type of book, something to make you smile, laugh, sigh and wish for your very own duke. Thanks to netgalley. In fact, I didn't know if I wanted to continue with this series after book 2.

If you haven't read book 1, or book 2, there might be small spoilers in my review. You have been warned. Before the book: Simon is a jackass. He is a snob, a jerk, thinks he is better than everyone and deserves to die a lonely old man for what he did to his sister. After the book: Simon is wonderful. That's all folks.

Sarah MacLean - Wikipedia

This book was beyond enjoyable, I could not put it down. Great characters and the plot is solid. Leighton and Juliana are one of a kind characters. I was sad when it ended.

This is what an historical romance is all about! I wish I could give it 10 stars! I'm hard to please when it comes to historical novels so if I say its a good book its a good one indeed. Nov 30, Geri Reads rated it it was ok.

Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart (Love by Numbers Series #3)

I feel like a traitor for rating a Sarah MacLean less than 3 stars and yet, here we are. The story is fine. I like the opposites attract thing Julianna and Simon had going. I probably would've enjoyed it more if I didn't dislike the two main characters so much. It was cute at first. Simon's orderly world is being upended by the daring and carefree Julianna. And then it just devolved into these two behaving stupidly and making even stupider decisions.

Good riddance! I was to I feel like a traitor for rating a Sarah MacLean less than 3 stars and yet, here we are. I was torn between banging my head against the wall or hurling it against the same said wall!

What is Kobo Super Points?

I really liked Julianna in the previous books. I loved her growing relationship with her step brothers. That was still present here, and it's one of the bright spots in the book. BUT I was disappointed with her behavior. I disliked how she keeps calling Penelope 'Grape' because she's plain and uninteresting, despite not really knowing her! For someone who has been judged in the past, she should've recognized her own behavior.

But noooo! Her impulsive and often head scratching antics wasn't the thing that made me dislike her. It was her lack of self-awareness. Every time she calls Penelope, the Grape, I wanted to reach out and slap some sense into her. I dunno why but that one really bothered me. But it wasn't Julianna who sunk this book for me. It was Simon. I could understand his behavior up to a point, but he did not do anything except whine about how hard it is to make a decision, or whine about how trap he is. He did not make a decision.

Even his decision of finally admitting his feelings for Julianna and choosing her came about because his sister threw herself under the bus for him!
